Overview
Locally known as the Black Angel Statue, this solid bronze structure was inspired by three visions experienced by the wife of General Grenville M. Dodge in the fall of 1916, before her death. Daniel Chester French, who created the seated statue of Abraham Lincoln for the Washington D.C. Lincoln Memorial, sculpted a likeness of this angel in Mrs. Dodge's vision.
The Dodges' historic home is only a few minutes away and offers tours.
