Iowa West Sports Plex

Overview

Operated by the Council Bluffs Soccer Club and named in honor of the lead donor for the project, the Iowa West Sports Plex is a 75,000 square foot indoor turf facility with the ability to accommodate multiple young athletes from sports including soccer, baseball, and softball with potential for flag football, rugby, lacrosse, ultimate Frisbee and more. The facility offers additional space for speed and agility training to athletes of all ages and a full-service athletic training room. The artificial turf is the size of one regulation youth 11v11 soccer field with the ability to be separated into multiple smaller field configurations.

During practice times, parents are encouraged to stay and network with each other by utilizing the flexible spaces. The concession stand just off the entry provides families the option to grab a bite to eat without having to leave the facility. The upstairs mezzanine area has bleachers as well as bench seating with a bird's eye view of the action and cafe tables for parents to sit and work. The space is designed to encourage conversation and congregation spaces. Outside of the field partition wall on the main level, bleachers and additional cafe seating encourage visitors to stay and connect.
