UNfortunately, this event has already occurred.
In 2021, Juneteeth was recognized as a national holiday commemorating the end of slaver in the United States as a whole, 155 years after the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas. "Our America: Black Freedom" tells the stories of what Black freedom means today, from a 94-year-old's quest for a national holiday to the fight for reparations to cultural celebrations. This documentary will be hosted by professor and author Preston Love, Jr. with a discussion to follow.
