April 6 | 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.Council Bluffs Public Library
Longtime Glenwood resident, 175-year-old John Y. Stone will visit the library attired in his Civil War uniform - having enlisted in 1861 and mustering out as a first lieutenant in 1865. John will regale audience members with some exciting “war stories” about serving under General Grant at Shiloh and Vicksburg and under General Sherman in Atlanta and on the way to Savannah. Dr. Stan Sibley is a retired teacher and school administrator. In addition to teaching, he has served in leadership roles at the state and local level. Since retiring in 2012, he has continued to pursue his interest in history, including participation in a horse-drawn artillery unit, 19th-century cavalry school and reenactments of several Civil War and Indian Wars era battles.
This event is free and open to the public.
