‘Council Bluffs History Through Art’ exhibit will soon be coming to an end as we learn about the man behind the art and the world he lived in, George Simons. George Simons, the seminal folk artist of our region, has left a legacy of drawings and paintings that open a window into life and surroundings of Council Bluffs and Omaha. His work varies from simplistic to advanced, from charming to revelatory. Yet, to truly know and appreciate the art, one must know more about the artist themselves. Tom Emmett, Executive Director of the Historic General Dodge House, invites us into the world of George Simons.
