For the past ten years, André Vander Velde has been sharing his warm soulful voice with people all over the Omaha metro area. He blends singer-songwriter acoustic soul, the likes of Bill Withers and Amos Lee, with the funk/R&B attitude of Prince and Otis Redding. His funk-rock project, Jaguar James, released a self-titled EP in 2019 and was recently nominated for OEAA’s Best Soul in 2020. The three-piece band provides the steady foundation of groove and rhythm for Vander Velde’s smooth vocals to soar over. Whether he's jamming with the band or crooning solo with his guitar, he creates an intimate experience that makes you feel like you're the only person in the room.
