The Arts Center at Iowa Western's 2021-2022 National Performance Season

This blog was written by Tim Dickmeyer, The Arts Center's executive director.

It is with excitement, gratitude, and deep sincerity that I welcome you back to the Arts Center at Iowa Western. This, our 21st annual season, will bring a variety of world-class performers. The year 2020 brought disruption that threatened the very existence of the performing arts in our country. We at the Arts Center were able to remain open in a limited capacity. We implemented health protocols, adjusted schedules, canceled and rescheduled performances, and were able to welcome new performers that otherwise might not have been able to perform with us. The stage lights stayed on during a dark time, perhaps providing a sense of normalcy for some. We were supported by our ticket buyers, season members, and corporate sponsors to make it through a very challenging time. We recognize the loss among our community, but we also look to the future with renewed energy and optimism.

The 21st National Performances Series will include Arts Center debut performances by such well-known artists as Gary Lewis and the Playboys in September and The Gatlin Brothers in October. We’ll welcome back to our stage audience favorites Dailey & Vincent in October and The Church Basement Ladies’ 20th Anniversary Tour in April. And we will introduce you to our new friends Tonic Sol-fa in December, Brian Owens in February, and The Petersens in April.

We are also grateful to announce that thanks to a generous gift, the main stage theater of the Arts Center will now be known as the Frank Fauble Theater. Frank Fauble was a Council Bluffs native, design architect and vice president at HDR Inc. in Omaha. Frank was part of the original design team when the Arts Center was built in 2001. Frank also served on the Arts Center’s Advisory Committee for many years and remained an ardent supporter and season member of the Arts Center throughout his life. Frank passed away in 2018 and left a generous gift to the Arts Center. His generosity funded an endowment that will help maintain the Arts Center for many years to come. We are so grateful for the legacy that Frank Fauble built here in his home town and we are proud to present performances in the Frank Fauble Theater.

As we prepare for the upcoming season, we can’t wait to share it with all of you. We’ll see you soon!
