Pottawattamie County Tourism Honored for Outstanding Website

WattaWayIA.com was awarded “Outstanding Website” by the Iowa Tourism Office and the Travel Federation of Iowa at a ceremony earlier this month at the 2019 Iowa Tourism Conference.

The award recognized WattaWayIA.com’s recent redesign which saw a 126 percent increase in unique web traffic, a 219 percent increase of page views and a 90 percent increase of time spent on the site.

“We are honored to be recognized by our peers in our ongoing effort to promote every community in our county,” said Sam Stivers, administrative director of the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board. “Our website is oftentimes a visitor’s first interaction with our county, and we are so pleased to be able to provide them, and locals, with the tools they need to enjoy all of the events, recreational activities, and accommodations we have to offer.”

Stivers also thanked her partners at Neapolitan Labs, who designed and built the site, the Council Bluffs Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Pottawattamie County Tourism Committee.

The website recognition pairs well with WattaWayIA.com’s newest campaign and website feature: Trail Capital of Iowa. The site includes maps and details for 14 county trails. In addition to trails like Lewis and Clark and Pioneer, the site includes brand new trails that explore the county’s food, wine, and even downright unusual scenes.

“The growth we’ve seen with the redesigned website is encouraging,” Stivers said. “We hope to see that momentum continue with Trail Capital of Iowa campaign, growing county tourism and in turn supporting our local businesses.”

Local businesses can also utilize Pottawattamie County Tourism to promote themselves to visitors and the community by submitting public events they’re hosting to the WattaWayIA.com calendar.
