From April 24 to 28, the Midwest 8-Ball Tournament will take place at the Mid-America Center. The pool tournament consists of players from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota, and more.
President of the Midwest Tournament Association Ace Leiding says that the annual tournament has a number of people participating in the competition’s different levels.
“If someone has never seen 140 pool tables in one room before it is quite a sight,” Leiding says of the number of tables needed for the event.
The tournament has had quite the impact on the community, according to Alicia Frieze, director of sales at the Council Bluffs Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“We are so excited to host the Midwest 8-Ball Tournament in Council Bluffs for the fourth year,” Frieze said. “This event provides fun entertainment for our residents, as well as creates an economic impact of over $800,000. We look forward to a thriving future together.”
New for this year, the tournament will have advanced 8-ball singles and 9-ball singles divisions along with an open speed pool event and a “Hard Luck” Tournament. Competitors must qualify by playing a minimum of 12 league nights for an operator of the Midwest Tournament Association.
Spectators are welcome for a small admission fee of $1. Learn more on our event page.
Leiding welcomes locals to come check out the event for “great competition, sportsmanship, fun, and a lot of pool playing.”
