Support the Wabash Trace at the Spring Kick-Off Event
The Spring Kick-Off Event is a celebration of the Wabash Trace Nature Trail and an opportunity to raise funds for its continued upkeep and development. The evening will feature live and silent auctions, delicious food, and a lively atmosphere—all in support of this incredible community resource.
The festivities begin with a group bike ride from Tobey Jack's to the Silver Creek Bridge and back, starting at 12:30 p.m. It’s a great way to enjoy the trail and connect with fellow supporters before the evening's events.
The main event kicks off with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the live auction and awards ceremony starting at 7:30 p.m. Be sure to bring your checkbook—this event is a fundraiser, and there will be plenty of exciting auction items up for grabs!
A Trail Loved by Many: The Wabash Trace Nature Trail
The Wabash Trace Nature Trail, a scenic gem spanning 63 miles from Council Bluffs to Blanchard, offers a peaceful escape into nature. With over 72 bridges and stunning views of the Loess Hills, the trail is a favorite for cyclists, walkers, and outdoor lovers of all kinds. The relatively flat terrain makes it accessible for all skill levels, and it's a great place to get outside, enjoy the beauty of southwest Iowa, and experience a piece of local history.
One of the most popular activities on the trail is the Thursday Night Taco Ride, a weekly event from spring through late fall. Cyclists meet at Iowa West Foundation Trailhead Park and embark on a 20-mile round-trip trek to Tobey Jack’s Mineola Steakhouse for tacos (or whatever you're in the mood for). It’s a great way to enjoy the trail, socialize with fellow cyclists, and enjoy delicious food.
Why the Wabash Trace Matters
