Nestled just 12 miles north of Council Bluffs, Mt. Crescent Ski Area is a winter wonderland set amidst the globally significant Loess Hills. Since its inception in 1961, Mt. Crescent has been a beacon for adventure seekers and winter sports enthusiasts, offering a thrilling array of activities including skiing, sledding, and snowboarding from December through March.
One of Mt. Crescent's most remarkable features is its stunning 106-acre property, which provides ample space for guests to explore and indulge in their favorite winter pastimes. Thanks to the visionary insight of Olympic gold medalist skier Stein Eriksen of Norway, Mt. Crescent's idyllic location was identified, paving the way for decades of outdoor enjoyment.
In December of 2021, Pottawattamie County made a strategic investment by purchasing the property and implementing a series of enhancements aimed at elevating the guest experience to new heights. These enhancements have been met with resounding praise from visitors, who have lauded Mt. Crescent for its dedication to quality and innovation.

Crescent can expect a host of amenities designed to enhance their enjoyment, including private and group ski and snowboard lessons, thrilling ski runs stretching 2,400 feet in length, a 1000-foot-long sledding run, and state-of-the-art chair lifts accommodating two and four persons.
