The type of fast, muscular aircraft made famous in the 1942 Doolittle Raid during WWII will be on public exhibition at the Council Bluffs Municipal Airport Monday, September 18 - Sunday, September 24.

The B-25J 'Maid in the Shade' is one of the Arizona Commemorative Air Force's combat aircraft based at its world-famous museum based in Mesa, Arizona.

Tour Hours: Monday, Friday - Sunday: 2 pm - 6 pm and Tuesday - Thursday: 9 am - 6 pm. Standard plane tour fees are $10/person and $20/family of four (in US and Canada).

Rides in the aircraft will be offered Friday - Sunday from 10 am - 1 pm for $325 (waist gunner seats) or $650 (jump seats in nose).

Air Force Junior ROTC Charity Golf Tournament

1 to 6PM | Bent Tree Golf Club
The Air Force Junior ROTC and the Council Bluffs York Rite will hold a fundraising golf tournament for which funds will be shared in support of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation and the 75th Anniversary of D-Day Trip to Normandy, France. Four cadets will be selected to participate in the latter. Food and prizes will be provided.

Fall Luncheon

10AM to 1PM | Community of Christ
For more than 50 years, the Community of Christ has hosted a fall luncheon on the first Thursday of October. This year that means you can buy a delicious lunch on October 5 at our church. The menu includes a (secret recipe) chicken casserole and/or sloppy joes, home-made pies and pastry, and various side dishes. Prices are ala-cart, so you can purchase your lunch for between $5 and $10 depending on how hungry you may be.

ake in the scenery of the Loess Hills as you run through woodlands, valleys, & prairies during the 12th Annual Hitchcock Nature Center HawkWatch 5K Trail Run & Walk.

Race your way through Hitchcock Nature Center on Saturday, October 14th, race check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. & the race gets underway at 9:00 a.m. Pre-registration is recommended for this event.

Participants can register in two ways:
1. Online registration is available and rates are $28.00 per person before September 30th & $33.00 per person after September 30th. Visit to register online in minutes.

2. You can also register in person at Hitchcock Nature Center or by mail. Registration forms are available at the Loess Hills Lodge Welcome Desk or you click here to download the form to return by mail. Registering by mail or in person features a discounted rate or $25.00 per person before September 30th or $30.00 per person after September 30th.

All participants who are pre-registered before September 30th will receive a long-sleeved commemorative t-shirt. Participants will also receive post-race snacks & beverages. Trophies will be awarded to the top overall times in both men's & women's & the top runners in each age group will also receive an award.

Sixth Annual Trivia Buffs of the Bluffs

5:30 to 10PM | Mid America Center
Honorary Chair, Tami Doll, invites you to break out your best 80’s threads ‘cuz we’re turning back the clock for a totally awesome trivia night to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Council Bluffs and Carter Lake. The evening includes food and drinks, a live and silent auction, raffle, costume contest, and entertainment by the Polka Police. Tables are $500 to $5,000.

Enjoy lunch and a speaker highlighting educational issues and interests in the community. Tickets are $50 each or sponsor a table for $500. Proceeds from the event support the Community Education Foundation's mission to enhance education in Council Bluffs. The Mission of the Community Education Foundation is to provide support to individuals and families in ways that contribute to their ability to learn. We accomplish our mission through cooperation with the Council Bluffs Community Schools and other organizations.
